The City of Elgin has assigned each household a gray cart for refuse and a blue cart for recycling.  These containers are the property of the City of Elgin and must be used only by the assigned household.

All trash should be placed in heavy duty plastic bags sealed at the top and placed in garbage container.  All trash must be placed on your driveway apron.  Trash should not be placed out prior to 6 p.m. on the night before collection.  All containers and trash, which is not picked up, should be returned to storage in the unit garage no later than sundown the day of pick-up.
 

Regular collection and recycling is performed by Waste Management West, 780 N. Kirk Road, Batavia, IL 60510 after 6:00 a.m. on Thursdays. If you have very large items, you may need a special pick-up. Call Waste Management West. at 800-414-5325.
